To All Parents & Students,

We are happy to announce that Aviv Dance Studios will be returning to the studio on Monday 21st September in Watford and Harpenden!

Due to Covid-19, things will be a little different at the studios in order to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

Please read our full Covid-19 Policy to familiarise yourself with our “new normal”.

Watford School Pick up and Drop off Procedure

One of the main changes with our Watford classes is that our waiting area is no longer open, in order to reduce the number of people in the Sports Centre building. No in-person payments are currently being taken on site.

Parents will be required to drop off students at the main black gate by the Muse building at the front of the school (opposite Rickmansworth Road) at the start of their class time. The usual car park at the back of the school will remain closed, and parents will be required to leave the site until picking up from the same spot at the end of the class. Parking will not be permitted on site for the duration of your child’s lesson. A member of the Aviv staff will be present at the main gate at the start of each class to allow entry, and will supervise the students to and from the studio. Kids Funky Jazz and Kids Ballet parents will be able to walk their children to the studio building at the start of class, and collect for the same spot.

A one-way system is in place on site. Sinks have been installed outside of the studio, where all students will be required to wash their hands on arrival. Hand sanitiser stations are also present inside the studio, and the studio will be cleaned between groups as the classes switch over.

Students should arrive dressed for class as the changing rooms are open for use of the toilets only. The water fountains are currently out of use, so students are required to bring their own filled water bottles for class (preferably named).
Social distancing will be implemented at all times.

Unfortunately, our Tots class will remain postponed until further notice.

Harpenden School Pick up and Drop off Procedure

Our Harpenden School classes will be resuming in the Sports Hall at St George’s School, Sun Lane, Harpenden in room SP102 (including Teen Contemporary). A one way system will be in place at the studio.

Parents will be allowed to drop younger students off at the studio entrance, but should wait outside the Sports Hall for collection as students will use a different exit at the end of class to follow our one-way system. All students will be required to use the hand sanitiser provided on arrival, and should arrive dressed for class. Please only arrive at your class start time to avoid overcrowding in the corridor, and adhere to social distancing.

Students are also required to bring their own filled water bottles for class (preferably named).

All Harpenden Street classes will finish 5 minutes early to allow the room to be cleaned between groups.

Social distancing will be implemented at all times.

Half Term Invoices

As you are already aware, we will now be using our online portal to issue invoices and take online payments. We are currently not accepting cash payments at the studios. Please keep an eye out for your invoice on the portal for this half term over the next couple of days.

We have also implemented a small price increase effective from September 2020. We work hard to keep our classes affordable for all our parents, and reduced our prices significantly during lockdown to ensure as many of our students could keep dancing as possible. After not increasing prices for over 7 years, and facing higher costs due to splitting classes and increased cleaning costs, we have now reached a point where this is the only way for us to return to the studio after a very difficult year. Thank you for understanding.

New Reception Team

Aviv's new reception team Emily, Amy and Jack

Meet Jack and Amy…our new receptionists!

After many years behind the desk, Emily has now moved away to start her teacher training course. We will miss her hugely, but happily she will still be working for Aviv remotely!

I am very happy to introduce our two new receptionists; Amy Goodwin and Jack Butler.

Amy has a vast knowledge of the dance and musical theatre industry after training at Laine Theatre Arts (and graduating as Head Girl)! She has had an extensive career in the industry, with her credits including Swing for Elphaba and Glinda in the UK tour production of Wicked! She has also taught and worked in various dance schools. Amy will be at reception on Mondays – Thursdays.

Jack is a ex-student of Aviv, and we are thrilled to have him back! Jack was part of our Performing Company and attended our Boys Hip Hop class for many years, so he is already an expert in everything Aviv! Jack will be at reception on Saturdays.

I know you will all be very welcoming and give Amy and Jack a bit of time to settle in to their new roles.

November Show Dates

Due to the strict restrictions still in place for theatres, our rescheduled November show dates are now looking very unlikely to be able to go ahead. The Radlett Centre currently remains closed, and have cancelled all performances in September and October. We will aim to produce an in-house presentation of work in some form by the end of the year if we are unable to put on our November show, but will keep you informed. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your attention to this newsletter, and for your supportive messages over the last few months. We can’t wait to see everyone back the studio!

Many thanks,
Fay & the Aviv Team
